SOCCER PREDICTION GIRONA – LEVANTE
The defeat of the Girona for 6-3, suffered against Real Madrid before the break for the national teams, has interrupted a series of three consecutive victories. That series of positive results, however, against teams like Celta Vigo and Villarreal, had allowed the Girona to even strengthen its position in the large group of teams that aspire to a place in the next edition of the Europa League. Currently the team coached by the much-loved Pablo Machín has only two points less than Sevilla, sixth, and is on equal terms with the Betis of Quique Setién.
The Levante, another of the three teams promoted at the end of the last second division championship, has very disappointed expectations in the second round. He seemed the most equipped of the newly promoted, and in part he had confirmed it with a series of positive results and, above all, showing a deep-rooted inclination to hold the field well and fight technically superior teams. A precarious athletic condition and some too many injuries among the most influential owners have progressively worsened the team’s performance.
Only in the last days before the break, thanks also to the work of the new coach Paco López, the Levante managed to put a reassuring six-point advantage margin between himself and the relegation zone. After a 1-1 draw against Espanyol he beat Getafe 1-0 and Eibar 2-1. The bad news of the match against Eibar is that he hurt the left-back full-back, Antonio Luna, one of the former of that game. His muscle injury will prevent him from playing for at least another month. Less serious than expected, however, was the pain on one knee felt by the median José Campaña, who fully recovered his physical form during the break.
The left-wing Colombian Johan Mojica, who in Machin’s 5-2-3 plays for a full-back with mainly attacking duties, will be missing from the Girona. The presence of Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono is also in doubt, and because of a pain to the adductors he has also avoided the call for the recent matches of the national team. One who has been summoned and has also played a few minutes is the Uruguayan striker Stuani, first reserve of Cavani and Luis Suarez in the national team led by Óscar Tabárez.
